Michelle Simmons

Michelle Simmons is a prominent figure in the field of quantum physics, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Founder & Director of Silicon Quantum Computing Pty. Ltd. since 2017. With a successful academic career, Michelle has held the position of Director at the ARC Centre for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology since 2011 and has been a Scientia Professor at UNSW since 2004. Michelle's leadership extended to serving as Editor in Chief for the Nature Partner Journal: Quantum Information from 2014 to 2021. Recognized for contributions to the field, Michelle received the Australian of the Year title from the National Australia Day Council in 2018-2019, alongside prestigious fellowships from the Australian Research Council from 2003 to 2019. Michelle's academic background includes a PhD from the University of Cambridge and dual Bachelor of Science degrees (Hons) in Physics and Chemistry from Durham University.
