Senior Vice President Business Development at Silicon Ranch

John Thompson has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. John most recently worked at Silicon Ranch Corporation, starting as a Senior Project Manager in February 2020 and then progressing to Director of Business Development in June 2021. In this role, they focused on developing operational strategies and proactive business opportunities in the renewable energy market. Thompson then became the Vice President of Business Development in April 2023, where they continued to leverage their extensive knowledge of electric utility grid operation and renewable energy technologies to provide strategic and economic value to customers.

Before joining Silicon Ranch, Thompson worked at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for a decade. John held various roles in TVA's Business Development & Renewables group, including Sr. Analyst, Sr. Technical Specialist, and Sr. Power Utilization Engineer. John'sresponsibilities involved market research and analysis, technical support for renewable energy programs, energy audits and power quality analysis, and promoting energy efficiency solutions for business customers.

Earlier in their career, Thompson was a Sr. Controls Engineer at Bridgestone, where they provided automated systems and controls support for tire manufacturing facilities. John also worked as a Manufacturing Control Systems Engineer at Nissan Motor Corporation, focusing on building energy management and control system support.

John Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University. John also pursued a Masters degree in Energy Business from The University of Tulsa. In addition to their academic achievements, they have obtained certifications including Renewable Energy Professional from the Association of Energy Engineers in 2015, Certified Energy Manager from the Association of Energy Engineers in 2012, and Project Management Professional (PMP)® from the Project Management Institute in December 2020.
