Sayed Farid Abass

Sayed Farid Abass has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of IT project management, cyber security, and telecom advisory.

In their most recent role at SiloSmashers, Sayed Farid Abass worked as an IT Technical Project Manager starting in 2016.

Prior to that, they worked as a Freelance IT Manager from 2014, where they served as an IT Consultant, IT Project Manager, and Cyber Security Analyst. In this role, they managed short-term integration and security assessment projects and collaborated with external auditors to conduct compliance audits and penetration testing. Sayed Farid also designed and implemented security processes and procedures.

From 2013 to 2014, Sayed Farid Abass held the position of Senior Cyber Security Consultant and Project Coordinator at Commonwealth Trading Partners, Inc. During this time, they personally supported the US Department of Commerce's National Cyber Security initiatives for Afghanistan and helped draft a National Cyber Security framework for Afghanistan by collaborating with a team of US and international partners.

From 2012 to 2013, Sayed Farid Abass worked as a Senior Telecom Advisor at International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF), where they served as the senior advisor to the ISAF Telecommunication Advisory Team (TAT) and assisted Afghanistan's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Sayed Farid also oversaw mobile software application development for Mobile Government (mGov.af).

From 2011 to 2011, Sayed Farid Abass was a Project Lead Engineer and Project Manager at Reston Consulting Group (RCG), Inc. In this role, they oversaw the nationwide IT infrastructure assessment and was the primary interface between business owners and delivery teams in a multi-vendor/multi-supplier integration environment. Sayed Farid also reported and presented to executives and stakeholders.

Prior to that, from 2008 to 2011, Sayed Farid Abass had roles at GTSI as a Project Lead Engineer, Project Manager, and Delivery Engineer II. In this position, they led a team of engineers, evaluated functional system requirements, and migrated legacy systems to more secure and efficient systems. Sayed Farid also built a Risk Assessment Team to analyze critical systems and recommend appropriate solutions.

From 2003 to 2008, Sayed Farid Abass worked at TekFu, Inc. as a Project Manager and Senior Systems Engineer. Here, they built an IT Office Automation network for a newly established Department of Defense (DOD) agency, following DOD security and infrastructure guidelines. Sayed Farid also created agency policies and procedures governing security and incident response.

In 2003, Sayed Farid Abass briefly worked as a Sr. Network Deployment Engineer at Information System Security Solutions, Inc. (IS3).

From 1999 to 2002, Sayed Farid Abass was a Senior Network System Consultant and Project Manager at Lucent Technologies. In this role, they led ATM engineering and project coordination for building a worldwide communication network for a major Internet Service Provider (ISP). Sayed Farid also managed SLAs, RFI, RFPs, and various network protocols.

In 1999, Sayed Farid Abass started their career as a PS Consultant at International Network Services, where they worked until 2000.

Sayed Farid Abass obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Queen Mary University of London from 1977 to 1980. Additionally, they also completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, specializing in the field of Engineering, during the same period at Queen Mary University of London.
