Andy Berry

Senior Applications Engineer at Silveray

Andy Berry has over 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with a focus on applications engineering. Andy started their career at NXP Semiconductors in 2009, where they worked as a Measurement Engineer for four years, improving and updating device characterization methods for Power MOSFETs. During this time, they also contributed to increasing measurement throughput by 40% and improving R&R on all test gears.

In 2013, Andy transitioned to the role of an Applications Engineer at NXP Semiconductors, providing design-in support for automotive customers using Power MOSFETs in their applications. Andy used Spice for circuit simulations and created Flotherm Models to evaluate thermal performance. Andy held this position until 2017.

In 2017, Andy joined Nexperia as a Principal Applications Engineer, where they provided technical customer support for automotive customers, including Spice and thermal simulations and bench testing. Andy also launched a new product based on their Ph.D. In 2020, they were promoted to the role of Principal Applications and Modeling Engineer, where they developed and implemented new R&D methodology, reducing time to market and ensuring first-time right development process through design iteration in simulation. Andy used advanced simulation tools and languages such as VHDL-AMS, Verilog-A, LTspice, Pspice, PartQuest Explore, and SaberRD. Andy held this position until February 2023.

In February 2023, Andy joined Silveray as a Senior Applications Engineer, where they are currently working.

Andy Berry has a strong educational background with a focus on power electronics. Andy obtained their Ph.D. in Power Electronics from The University of Manchester between the years 2015 and 2022. Prior to their doctoral studies, they completed their Master's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The Manchester Metropolitan University from 2012 to 2014. Andy Berry started their education journey with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics from The University of Manchester, which they completed between 2006 and 2009.

In addition to their formal education, Andy Berry has acquired several certifications to enhance their skills. In 2018, they completed the SaberRd introduction course from Synopsys Inc. Andy also obtained the FloTHERM certification from Mentor Graphics in 2015. Furthermore, they completed the Cadstar Schematic capture & PCB certification from Quadra Solutions Ltd in 2014. Andy Berry has also obtained certifications in Labview Instrument control and Labview Core 1 and 2 from National Instruments in 2012 and 2011, respectively. Lastly, they acquired the Tailored Excel 2007 Level 2&3 certification from QA in 2010.
