Alexander Groot

Alexander has many years of experience in the payments domain implementing global payment connections and product propositions on both the acquiring and issuing side. He has a background in experimental physics and has obtained a Ph.D. in the Quantum Mechanical behavior of ultra-cold systems.

After his studies, he worked as a technical consultant at UL Transaction Security advising large acquirers and issuers on existing and emerging payment technologies in multiple geographies. In 2016 he joined Adyen where he worked on acquiring and issuing. In the first role, he was responsible for the global expansion of the acquiring solution in terms of both the acquiring footprint as well as the global product expansion before steering the acquiring roadmap as a product lead. He was also involved from the start in setting up Adyen’s Issuing proposition, building the initial product and scheme connections in Europe and the U.S. while eventually building up and leading the product and operations team.
