Serena Whitener

Serena Whitener started their career in 2002 as a Help Desk Student Manager and Senior Technician at Washington and Lee University. Serena managed the student working schedule, evaluated employees' performance, and wrote the Help Desk Manual and Online Diagnostic Tree. From 2004 to 2005, they worked as an Alsos Digital Library Developer at the university, where they designed, developed, and tested programs and web forms in C# and ASP.Net. Serena also processed log files and maintained the database in SQL Server.

In 2005, Serena joined Primescape Solutions, Inc. as a Consultant, working offsite at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Serena served as a Data Warehouse/BusinessObjects Analyst and Developer, analyzing and gathering business requirements, designing Data Marts and ETL processes, and loading data to the Data Warehouse and Data Marts.

In 2007, Serena started working at GEICO as a Full Stack Data Engineer. Serena worked closely with business units for requirements gathering and analysis, developed SSIS jobs and SSRS reports, and customized solutions using Perl, ASP.Net, and C#. From 2013 to 2016, they held the role of Principal Data Engineer and Data Architect at GEICO, where they redesigned and developed projects, worked closely with different teams to build sustainable solutions, and developed a Sales Repository and Search tool.

Most recently, Serena joined Simon Data in 2021 as a Senior Engineering Manager.

Serena Whitener obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Washington and Lee University, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. In terms of additional certifications, Serena obtained the following:
