William H. Press is a Professor of Computer Science and Integrative Biology at The University of Texas at Austin, where they hold the Leslie Surginer Chair. With a diverse background in both physical and biological sciences, Press is recognized for extensive academic and research achievements, and they are affiliated with several prestigious institutes at UT. Press served as Vice Chair of President Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology from 2009 to 2017 and has held leadership positions within the American Association for the Advancement of Science. They are also a Senior Fellow Emeritus at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and currently serve on the board of the Simons Foundation. Press earned a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Caltech and an A.B. in Physics from Harvard University.
