Matthew McFarland has a diverse work history, beginning with their role as a Programming and IT Intern at NuStats in 2011. Matthew then served as a Student Web Developer at Texas State University, where they developed web platforms and sites with new technologies such as nodejs and managed multiple repositories and libraries. In 2016, they began work at CreditCards.com as a DevOps Engineer, where they built out provisioning and deployment infrastructure and converted the main deployment pipeline from a legacy SVN rsync process into a docker deployment pipeline leveraging TravisCI and AWS ECS. In 2019, they joined Red Ventures as a Senior Platform Engineer, where they built out a deployment tool used by the majority of the enterprise, transitioned into a tiger team for helping get key business objectives over the finish line, and worked on a large initiative to reimagine the content delivery and architecture of a key Red Ventures property. Most recently, in 2022, they began work at Simplecast as a Backend Engineer.
Matthew McFarland obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Computer Science, with a Minor in Geology, from Texas State University between 2009 and 2014. In November 2016, they obtained an Associate Solutions Architect certification from Amazon Web Services.
