Katie Backstrom has extensive work experience in regulatory compliance and management roles in the food industry. Katie began their career in 2003 as a Quality Assurance Manager at Albertsons and later worked as a Product Development Manager at SUPERVALU from 2007 to 2012. Katie then joined WinCo Foods as a Regulatory & Labeling Compliance specialist from 2012 to 2017. Currently, Katie holds the position of Director Global Regulatory Compliance at J.R. Simplot Company, starting in November 2021. Katie also previously served as a Regulatory Manager at J.R. Simplot Company from September 2017 to January 2022.
Katie Backstrom holds a Masters degree in Food Science and Nutrition from Chapman University. Katie is currently pursuing a Certificate in International Food Law from Michigan State University. Prior to their Masters degree, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry from Azusa Pacific University, where they studied Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, and Kinesiology.
