William Hutchison

CEO & Co-Founder at SimSpace

William Hutchison is the CEO and Co-Founder of SimSpace. William previously served as a senior military officer with the U.S. Department of Defense for over fifteen years. During their time with the Department of Defense, Hutch created and led numerous cybersecurity training, certification, testing, and assessment programs. William also founded Cyber Guard, the preeminent national-level cyber exercise focused on integrating Federal, State, and Local government first-responders, military units, and private industry in forming a technical-to-strategic response to cyber attacks against US critical infrastructure. In conjunction with these exercises, Hutch and their team created the first cyber adversary tactics office, founded the first joint, cyber-focused tabletop exercise, and established the inaugural cybersecurity team certification event. The same team—elements from MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory along with JHU Applied Physics Lab now at SimSpace—developed the first-ever test series for the DoD, called Project C, designed to conduct comprehensive cybersecurity assessments.

Hutch is also a decorated fighter pilot with over 3,500 hours of experience in flying the F-15 Eagle and the T-38 Talon.

William Hutchison has a Bachelor of Science from Duke University in Psychology, a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from The University of Texas at Austin in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, and a S.M. from MIT Sloan School of Management in Engineering and Management.
