Thomas Surowiec

Thomas Surowiec has extensive work experience in the research and academic field. Thomas currently holds the position of Chief Research Scientist at Simula Research Laboratory since October 2022. Prior to that, they worked as an Associate Professor at Philipps-Universität Marburg from October 2016 to October 2022. Before joining Philipps-Universität Marburg, they served as an Assistant Professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin from April 2014 to October 2016 and as a Research Associate from April 2009 to April 2014.

Thomas Surowiec earned their Ph.D. (doc. rer. nat.) in Mathematics from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where they studied from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, they obtained their M.S. in Stochastic Systems and Optimization from Stevens Institute of Technology, completing their studies there from 2004 to 2006. Thomas received their B.S. in Mathematical Sciences from the same institution, having been enrolled from 2000 to 2004. Additionally, they hold a Master of Science - MS degree in Stochastic Optimization from Stevens Institute of Technology, although the specific dates of completion for this degree are not provided.
