David Hanson is the co-founder of SingularityNET, a company that is working to create artificial intelligence that can be used by anyone. Prior to this, they were a sculptor and robotics research and design consultant with Walt Disney Imagineering, and the founder, CEO of Human Emulation Robotics.
Hanson has always been interested in artificial intelligence and robotics, and this led him to start their own company, Hanson Robotics, in 2003. The company creates extremely lifelike social robots for research, art, and other products. In 2005, they sold the company to a Japanese conglomerate.
Now at SingularityNET, Hanson is working on making artificial intelligence more accessible to everyone. David believes that artificial intelligence will be a major force in solving many of the world’s problems, and they are working to make it available to as many people as possible.
David Hanson received their Ph.D. in Interactive Arts and Engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas. David also visited UC San Diego's Extended Studies program to study Cognitive Science and UCLA Extension to study under professor Paul McCarthy in the Fine/Studio Arts, General program. David Hanson holds a BFA in Film/Animation/Video from the Rhode Island School of Design and visited Brown University to study Computer Science while cross-enrolling from RISD. David Hanson also has experience in Music, Math, Literature, and Art from University of North Texas, but they did not receive a degree or certification in any of these fields from the school.
