Skowkale First Nation (Sq’ewqéyl) is a proud Stó:lō community located in the heart of the Fraser Valley, on the traditional and unceded territories of the Stó:lō people. Rooted along the Chilliwack River, Skowkale is one of the Tí:lt Qwá:lewel — the “People of the River” — and is part of the wider Tselxweyeqw Tribe and Stó:lō Nation family of communities.

Skowkale is committed to strengthening the well-being of its members through holistic programs, cultural revitalization, sustainable land stewardship, and community-driven governance. The Nation supports over 600 members through departments focused on Lands and Natural Resources, Housing, Public Works, Health & Wellness, Culture and Language, Youth and Recreation, and community programming delivered through The'í:tselíya Health & Community Centre.

With a focus on accountability, transparency, and long-term planning, Skowkale continues to invest in meaningful initiatives such as housing development, food sovereignty, environmental monitoring, cultural teaching, emergency management, and community safety. These efforts reflect the Nation's dedication to building a strong, healthy, and inclusive future for all generations.

Skowkale also plays an active leadership role within the region through collaboration with the Tselxweyeqw Tribe, regional municipalities, and partner organizations working in health, education, land stewardship, and cultural preservation. The community remains committed to honouring Stó:lō teachings, protecting the land and water, and fostering a sense of belonging, unity, and growth among its members.

Grounded in tradition and guided by the values of respect, honesty, and connection, Skowkale First Nation continues to build a vibrant and thriving community rooted in cultural strength and collective wellness.
