Austin Bell

Austin Bell is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience in machine learning and software development. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at Slack, Austin oversees teams focused on Machine Learning Modeling, Machine Learning Infrastructure, and Search Infrastructure. Previously, as the Staff Tech Lead Manager at Slack, Austin concentrated on LLM quality and evaluation. Austin also held the position of Head of Engineering at Fennel, where leadership was provided to cross-functional teams in developing a mobile investing platform. Other roles include Machine Learning Researcher at Haitian Global Health Alliance and Senior Applied ML and Data Scientist at Analysis Group. Austin earned a Master of Science in Computer Science specializing in Machine Learning from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Northeastern University.
