Benjamin Smit

Benjamin Smit is an accomplished product leader with extensive experience in driving growth and product strategy across various organizations. Currently serving as Product Director for Canvas at Slack since March 2019, Benjamin leads the vision for Slack’s native doc tool and spearheads new generative AI capabilities. Previously, as Product Director for Growth, Benjamin played a crucial role in increasing Slack's user base from 10 million to 27 million weekly active users. Prior to Slack, Benjamin held key positions at Condé Nast, where responsibilities included crafting the product strategy for Vogue and leading digital initiatives, and at Code and Theory, where Benjamin managed large-scale product projects for high-profile clients. Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science from Université catholique de Louvain.
