James Barnes is an accomplished design professional with extensive experience in product design and brand direction. Currently serving as Principal Product Designer at Slack since April 2018, James has previously held the position of Lead Product Designer. Prior to Slack, James worked as Senior Product Designer at Evernote and contributed to a major user experience overhaul at Carbonmade as a Product Designer. James also served as Creative Director at Grooveshark, leading product and brand initiatives, and played a key role in establishing artist content management features. Early in the career, James gained experience as a Lab Assistant at Loxahatchee River Environmental Control District while holding degrees in Biological Anthropology and Zoology from the University of Florida.
