Raquel Vélez

Raquel Vélez is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in engineering management and entrepreneurship. At Slack, from December 2017 to February 2020, Raquel served as Senior Engineering Manager for the Platform Team, successfully leading efforts to enhance application discovery. As the Founder and CEO of Alpine Parrot, established in June 2019, Raquel developed technical outdoor apparel aimed at promoting inclusivity for larger individuals in outdoor activities, achieving a successful product launch via Kickstarter and building a community of 10,000 followers. Prior experience includes roles at npm, Inc. from February 2014 to November 2017 as Engineering Manager for the Services Team, where Raquel played a key role in team oversight and communication, as well as contributions to the executive team. Earlier career highlights include a position as Software Engineer in Mobile R&D at Sauce Labs, where Raquel was instrumental in developing a device cloud for mobile technology. Raquel holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Caltech and has furthered academic pursuits at Università degli Studi di Genova.
