Derek Wakeen is currently the Brand Design Lead at Slate Automotive, where they focus on building and launching visual identities for startup brands. They have a diverse background in design, having worked as a Graphic Designer at PVL Brand from 2009 to 2012, a Senior Designer at BEAM Interactive from 2012 to 2015, and a Senior Art Director at LIFETIME BRANDING from 2017 to 2018. In 2019, they founded Wakeen Design Co., where they served as Owner and Brand Director until 2025. Derek holds a BFA in Industrial Design from the College for Creative Studies and participated in a Study Abroad Program at Griffith University.
