Julia Turner

Julia Turner is a Senior Fellow at the USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy, focusing on sustainable business models for news, particularly in the Los Angeles news ecosystem. Julia is the founder and co-host of the highly regarded "Culture Gabfest" podcast at Slate Magazine, recognized by the New York Times for its cultural analysis and repartee. Previously, Julia served as the Senior Vice President of Content Business Strategy at the Los Angeles Times, where strategic initiatives led to growth in digital subscriptions. Julia held various editorial roles at Slate Magazine, including Editor-in-Chief, where leadership contributed to significant audience growth and the development of acclaimed political and cultural coverage. Julia earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Brown University and attended Milton Academy and The Mountain School of Milton Academy.
