Jef King

Jef King has a strong and diverse work experience in the technology sector. Starting in 2014, they worked as an App Developer for RESAAS and a Senior Consultant (Azure) for TRADER Corporation. In 2015, they joined Microsoft and held various roles, including Senior Technical Evangelist, Principal Technical Evangelist, and Senior Cloud Solution Architect - ISV. During their time at Microsoft, they worked with numerous high-growth startups and contributed to advancing their software through cloud-native technologies and DevOps processes. Additionally, they focused on supporting non-profit organizations, such as the Missing Children Society of Canada and Shujazz in Kenya.

In 2018, Jef King joined the Missing Children Society of Canada as a Technology Strategist, where they continued their work in the non-profit sector. In 2019, they became the Chief Technology Officer at Food-X Technologies, where they played a crucial role in building a scalable eGrocery software platform and grew the technology teams to 86 people. Jef also served as the Chief Technology Officer at SPUD.ca, where they focused on hardening systems, digital modernization, and improving legacy systems to ensure security and operational excellence.

In 2021, Jef King joined Freshlocal Solutions Inc. as the Chief Technology Officer, where they took the company public and formed central services to support subsidiaries Spud and FoodX. Later, in 2022, they worked as an Engineering Lead and Data Engineer at Atreides. Currently, they are the Chief Technology Officer at Operto Guest Technologies, leading the company's technical operations and building partnerships with technology companies in the industry.

Jef King's education history includes attending the British Columbia Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2003, where they pursued a field of study in Software Systems Development. Jef then went on to Thompson Rivers University from 1997 to 1999, studying Geography. In 1994 and 1995, Jef attended Shawnigan Lake School, although the field of study is not specified.

In addition to their formal education, Jef King has obtained certifications from Microsoft. In 2015, they earned the Microsoft Specialist certifications in Architecting Microsoft Azure Solutions and Developing Microsoft Azure Solutions from Microsoft itself.
