Slow Travel is an online destination guide for people who are looking to get off the well worn travel path and to have a new type of travel experience - one where they don't add to the destruction caused by the tourism industry. The focus is on staying, eating and shopping local, wherever you may be in the world, giving back to the communities you are staying in and not putting any more money in the pockets of the conglomerates.

We look at the lesser known tourist attractions, as well as how to visit the big ones without the crowds. It is not just about historical sites, although they do form a large part of it, but also natural sites, cultural events, places you may pass on your travels and walks that are of little known, but surprising, importance.

The emphasis is on using public transport, although we don't disparage the car, and finding ways to travel which are sustainable, making the journey part of the adventure itself. The site is starting with the south of England, but will soon spread once lockdown restrictions are lifted.
