David Cortes

David Cortes has extensive work experience in the financial industry. David started their career in 2011 as a Market Risk Analyst at BBVA in the USA, where they performed daily analytics on the bank's trading portfolio and compiled reports on market and credit risk figures. In 2014, they became an Associate, Derivative Sales, responsible for marketing interest rate derivative products and managing clients across Texas. From 2017 to 2021, David worked as an Associate Director at BBVA in the USA, analyzing market trends, assessing client debt portfolios, and developing hedging strategies. In 2021, they joined SmartBank as the Head of Capital Markets/Corporate Treasurer, where their primary responsibilities include interest rate and liquidity risk management, investment portfolio management, and implementation of the bank's client loan hedging program.

David Cortes completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from The University of Alabama in 2010. Later, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Finance with a specialization in Risk Management from the University of Alabama, Manderson Graduate School of Business. David completed their master's degree in 2011.
