Robert Tepp obtained their undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science, with a major in Paper Science and Engineering and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1989. Robert also completed Process Control Engineering Courses at Bailey Controls Company Training Center, with a focus on Process Control Theory and Recovery Boiler Operation and Control. Additionally, they attended Engineering Professional Program Courses at the University of Washington, specializing in Infiltration Facility Design for Storm Water Control and Construction Site Erosion & Sediment Controls. Robert also received a Mid Management Certificate through the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completing courses in Project Management, Managing Organizational Change, and Developing Management Skills. It is not clear when they studied at the latter three institutions.
