Derek Wright

Project Manager, Installation & Deployment at SmartDrive

Derek Wright has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Derek started their career as an Aircraft Technician at the Defence Aviaiton Repair Agency in 1997. Derek then worked as a Department Manager at Asda, where they were responsible for training and managing a team of 15-20 personnel. Derek gained experience in time management, team building, and business costing during their time at Asda.

In 2002, Derek became a Business Owner of Wright 1st Time Driving School until 2009. As a business owner, they were responsible for various aspects of running the driving school.

From 2009 to 2013, Derek worked at FirstGroup plc in various roles, including Bus Driver and Operations Supervisor/Controller. Derek also served as a Trainee Staff Manager and Driver Trainer - PSV during their time at FirstGroup plc. In these roles, Derek gained experience in providing public services, middle management support, and driver training.

In 2013, Derek joined Greenroad Technologies as the UK/EMEA Implementation Manager. Derek'sresponsibilities included handling the implementation of Greenroad equipment for new and existing customers, coordinating equipment delivery and installation between engineers and customers.

In 2017, Derek started working at SmartDrive Systems as a Project Manager, specializing in installation and deployment. Derek later became a Senior Project Manager EMEA in 2020.

Most recently, Derek joined ORBCOMM as an Account Manager in 2023.

Derek Wright attended Linlathen High School from 1980 to 1984, but did not pursue a specific degree or field of study.
