Carson Lam

Carson Lam is a scientist, engineer, and physician whose current role is as a Machine Learning Research Scientist at SmarterDx, focusing on medical artificial intelligence interpretability, reasoning, and trust. Previously, Carson held the position of AI Engineer at Together AI, where they worked on GenerativeAI Ops, and served as Director of Data Science at Dascena, applying machine learning to predict medical outcomes. Carson's academic journey includes multiple degrees from Northwestern University and a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from Stanford University, where they also completed their residency in ophthalmology. With a background as a practicing physician, Carson combines scientific passion in training large neural networks with an empathetic approach to communicating complex concepts.
