Derek Kou

Derek Kou, CPA, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University, earned between 2007 and 2011, and is a seasoned finance professional with significant experience in various accounting roles. Currently serving as Director of Finance and Accounting at SmartFinancial since April 2021, Derek previously held the position of Senior Corporate Accountant at The Picerne Group from May 2019 to April 2021, and worked as Accounting Supervisor at The Management Trust from December 2016 to May 2019. Earlier in the career, Derek served as an Auditor at Rojas & Associates, CPAs from May 2012 to December 2016, and gathered experience as a Private Equity Associate Intern at Revolution Capital Group, as well as an Accounting & Operations Intern at Webullient Corporation. Derek started the professional journey as a Supervisor at Loyola Marymount University’s College of Business Administration while completing studies.
