Akeem Allen is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in consulting, project management, and design education. Currently serving as a Consultant at SMASH since January 2024, Akeem has also founded Nile Studio in 2017. Akeem's previous roles at SMASH include College Director, Alumni Program Manager, and Project Manager from June 2019 to October 2023. Akeem held the position of Project Manager at Pratt & Whitney for a brief period in 2023 and served as a Fellow at IDEO CoLab in 2019. Additionally, Akeem contributed as a Design Instructor for the Inneract Project from 2018 to 2019 and worked at Free Range as a Junior Strategist and Design Intern from 2015 to 2018. Early career experiences include serving as Lab Manager at Babson College's IT Service Department from 2016 to 2017 and as Executive Director of CREED at The Mamelodi Initiative from 2014 to 2016. SMASH provides an intensive and holistic computer science-focused education to dedicated students of color who seek equal access to college and career readiness resources. Our mission is to build a strong, diverse and socially conscious tech workforce by leveling the playing field through academic learning and experiential engagement for high school and college students. SMASH’s two leading programs are: - SMASH Residential, our flagship program, provides high school students across the nation with a tuition-free, residential educational experience for each of their three summers during high school. With programs at 5 campuses, SMASH Residential works to ensure that Scholars have the computer science knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in college and beyond. - SMASH Virtual is an online platform that provides students early exposure to CS/emerging technology topics and career professionals.
