SMC Laboratories is a preclinical CRO established in 2014, dedicated to accelerating drug discovery and development through deep expertise in fibrosis, inflammation, and metabolic disease.

To date, we have collaborated with more than 1,000 pharmaceutical companies, biotech ventures, and academic institutions across over 30 countries. We provide high-quality pharmacology studies utilizing advanced and clinically relevant animal models across a wide range of therapeutic areas, including MASH (formerly NASH), liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), chronic kidney disease (CKD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), systemic sclerosis (SSc), and oncology.

Our proprietary platforms include the STAM™ model and STAM-IO model, enabling evaluation of disease progression from MASH to fibrosis and HCC, as well as immuno-oncology responses within a single system. In addition, we offer a diverse portfolio of well-characterized models such as CDAHFD and Western diet + CCl₄ (WD+CCl₄) models, allowing selection of optimal disease backgrounds depending on the mechanism of action and study objectives.

Furthermore, through our Made-to-Order (MTO) service, we design and develop customized disease models tailored to specific client needs, including complex or novel pathological conditions that are not addressed by standard models.

We offer flexible and customized study designs, supporting a wide range of modalities such as biologics, nucleic acid therapeutics, and cell-based therapies. Our experienced scientific team works closely with clients to deliver reliable, reproducible, and decision-enabling data in a timely manner.
