In 2009 Sue Suh, a general dentist at the time, joined the U.S. Navy’s Humanitarian Relief program and traveled to the Republic of Kiribati, in the central Pacific Ocean, to provide the underserved with dental services.

Inspired by her experience, in 2010 Dr. Suh and her pre-med track niece, Jane Lee, participated in a dental mission trip in Thailand. In 2012 the duo returned to Thailand and traveled to Cambodia for another dental mission. Challenged by their experiences abroad, Dr. Suh and Jane began volunteering at free dental health fairs and community clinics in Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire. Struck by the immense need for dental care amongst the low-income locally and internationally, in 2015 Dr. Suh and Jane founded Smile Unto Him.

Since its inception, Smile Unto Him has participated in numerous mission trips internationally, transported thousands of dollars of dental equipment and supplies abroad. In October 2018, Smile Unto Him opened the brick and mortar free dental clinic in Riverside, CA.
