Derek Read

Derek Read has extensive work experience in the Smithers Group, starting in 2004. Derek began as an Operations Manager in Ohio, overseeing a research and testing facility. After that, they served as the Director of Sales, managing a sales team and developing marketing strategies. In 2011, they established and managed the first Smithers Group business in Asia, specifically in Suzhou, China. Derek created a test center from scratch, hired and trained a Chinese staff, and implemented Smithers philosophies and procedures. In 2018, they became the Vice President of the Asia region for Smithers Rapra, and later held the position of Vice President Asia Pacific Materials Science and Engineering at Smithers.

Derek Read completed their Associates degree in Arts from the University of Cincinnati from 1991 to 1994. Derek then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University of Akron from 1995 to 1999.
