James Spence

James Spence has a diverse work experience in the field of software development, with their most recent role being as an Engineering Manager at Smoothwall since January 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Software Engineer and Squad Lead at Smoothwall from June 2019 to January 2023. Before joining Smoothwall, James worked at YorkTest Laboratories as a Senior Full Stack Developer and Manager from January 2018 to June 2019, and as a Systems Programmer from January 2017 to January 2018. James also has experience as a Software Application Developer at Geoplan Geospatial Intelligence from September 2014 to December 2016. James began their career as a Student Intern at Software Box Ltd in July 2013 and later worked as a Research Associate at BAE Systems, Inc. from July 2012 to July 2013.

James Spence attended the University of York from 2010 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Computer Science. In addition, they obtained certifications in Microsoft Programming in C# from Microsoft in June 2015, and in Microsoft .NET Fundamentals from Microsoft in November 2014.
