James Frasher brings extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as an Advisory Board Member at the Carlsen Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship since February 2025. Since May 2017, James has held multiple leadership roles at SMUD, including Director of Research & Development, Grants, and Partnerships, and previously served as Manager of New Business Development and Sr. Strategic Business Planner in Energy Storage and DER Operation. Prior to SMUD, James was Vice President of Engineering at Greenlots and CODA Energy, where responsibilities included high voltage system development. James started a career at CODA Automotive, Inc. as Senior Engineering Manager and also served as Engineering Lead at EnergyCS. James holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
