The global consumption of  for vegetable oil is more than 200 million metric tons. Growing population and plant-based diets demands more vegetable oil. Even though palm oil is the most efficient crop per hector land and used in almost 50% of all packaged products , it is still challenged with deforestation, loss of biodiversity , labour rights. Changing to other oil crops would not solve the challenge as they would need at least 4-10 times more land than palm.

SNL BioSolutions is enabling sustainable and scalable innovation to solve this issue. SNL has developed an innovative technology platform to make precision fermentation-based oils that can be produced at scale and prevent deforestation. The oil produced using SNL’s technology could be used in many products from food ingredients, cosmetics, fragrance , home care to even biofuels like sustainable aviation fuel.
