Florian Funke is a software engineer at Snowflake since March 2015, focusing on the development of a next-generation analytic database system designed for cloud environments. Prior to this role, Florian was a PhD student at Technische Universität München from June 2010 to February 2015, researching in-memory database systems and contributing to the development of the HyPer database system, which excels in parallel transaction and query processing. Florian also has experience as a software engineer in the Information Management division at IBM Research and Development from January 2009 to May 2010 and completed an Extreme Blue Internship at IBM Research and Development GmbH in July and October 2007. Academically, Florian holds a Ph.D. in Database Systems from the Technical University of Munich and a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Tübingen, complemented by an exchange program at Tufts University.
