Sam Bäcknäs

Sam Bryfczynski, Ph.D., is a seasoned professional in the fields of data science and analytics, currently serving as the Director of Intelligent Products at Slalom since April 2024. With a robust background that includes a role as Senior Director of Data Science at Quest Diagnostics, Sam has successfully led diverse teams in developing innovative healthcare analytics solutions. Prior experience at Slalom includes leading the Applied Analytics team and contributing as a senior data scientist. Additionally, Sam has a solid foundation in academia as an Adjunct Faculty member at Wayne State University, where contributions included overseeing computer science students' senior projects. Sam holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Clemson University, completed in 2012, and has worked extensively in software analytics, developing models that leverage data engineering and machine learning techniques.
