Rien Bongers

Rien Bongers has over two decades of experience in promoting sustainable development through stakeholder engagement, CSR strategy, and communication services as the Directeur of Het Portaal since January 2001. Alongside this role, Rien serves as a Board Member at RAAP! and the Eigenaar of Nederland Voedselland, focusing on enhancing sustainability in the food system. Additionally, Rien contributes as Chairman of the Advisory Board at Sobolt and was the Vice-voorzitter of the Raad van Toezicht at CED-Groep until September 2024. Past notable roles include a member of the Board at Europese Beweging Nederland, co-founder of Eetbaar Rotterdam, Manager of Corporate Strategy at Nuon, and Head of Relations Management at Gemeente Rotterdam. Rien holds a Master's degree in Contemporary History from Utrecht University and received further education at TA academie.
