Jennifer Mitchell

Jennifer Mitchell worked as an associate lawyer at the law firm Farano Green (which later merged with the law firm Gardiner Roberts LLP) from 1999–2001, specializing in the areas of entertainment, media, and communications law. During that time, she represented numerous music publishers, songwriters, recording artists, record companies, distributors, and film and television production companies. Jennifer also assisted clients with respect to the acquisition, sale, financing and distribution of catalogues and intellectual property assets. In 2001, Mitchell co-founded Casablanca Media Publishing together with Edmund Glinert, and she currently serves as the President of Casablanca. The company provides both domestic and worldwide music publishing services to songwriters and music publishing copyright owners around the globe, and manages more than 400,000 music-publishing copyrights. In her capacity as President of Casablanca, Mitchell oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, including all aspects of business development, financing, administration, creative and legal. She’s a member of several professional and industry organizations, including the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers (IAEL), Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA), Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (CARAS), and the Ontario Law Society, and from time to time has sat on the advisory committee for the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC).
