Cheryl Couris

Director Of Product Design at Webex Events (formerly Socio)

Cheryl Couris has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Cheryl currently holds the role of Director of Product Design at Webex Events (formerly Socio) starting from May 2022. Before this, Cheryl worked at Webex as the Director of Design from November 2021 to May 2022, and as a Staff Design Manager from January 2019 to November 2021. Their responsibilities included driving collaboration and leading teams focused on improving asynchronous experiences and fostering inclusivity.

Prior to their time at Webex, Cheryl worked as a User Experience Design Instructor at the School of Visual Concepts from August 2017 to January 2021. Cheryl led cohorts in various design classes and workshops, mentored students, and contributed to course content creation.

Cheryl also gained valuable experience at Google as an Interaction Designer from December 2017 to January 2019. Cheryl was responsible for driving growth, improving existing features, and leading the release of new experiences for the Google Cloud Platform Security + Privacy team. Cheryl also advocated for diversity and inclusion, creating and launching the first Empathy Kit to promote accessibility best practices.

Before Google, Cheryl worked at Microsoft in various roles. Cheryl was a Senior UX Design Manager from December 2016 to December 2017, leading the UX for the Dynamics 365 for Talent suite and focusing on designing inclusive solutions. Prior to that, they were a Senior UX Designer from June 2015 to December 2016, working on data science, machine learning, and advanced analytics. Cheryl also served as a UX Designer II from January 2013 to June 2015, contributing to enterprise tools for business intelligence and advanced analytics.

Early in their career, Cheryl worked as an Art Director at Strategies 360 from May 2011 to January 2013, creating branding identities, websites, collateral, and social media strategies for various clients. Cheryl also worked as a Lead Designer at Design 446 from September 2008 to December 2010, where they oversaw the development of a marketing magazine and managed various marketing campaigns and design projects.

Cheryl's work experience also includes roles such as Graphic Designer at King Fish Media from November 2006 to June 2008, Web Design Teaching Assistant at Salem State University in June-July 2006, and Web Development Intern at Net Atlantic from October 2005 to May 2006.

Cheryl Couris completed their Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design & Interactive Multimedia at Salem State University from 2001 to 2006. Later, from 2014 to 2015, they pursued studies in Human Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington.
