Gerald Herbel has had a diverse career in software engineering. Gerald began working as a Software Engineer at Novell, Inc in 1988 and stayed there for 10 years. Gerald then moved on to Great Talking Box / Sym Systems where they served as a Sr Software Engineer. Gerald'sresponsibilities included implementing bootloaders and diagnostics for newly designed boards, as well as integrating device drivers into Windows CE OS. In 2000, Gerald joined 3rd Rail Engineering as a Software Engineer for a brief period before joining Socket Mobile Inc. At Socket Mobile, they have had two roles as a Senior Software Engineer. In their first role, they focused on integrating, developing, and maintaining WiFi software for handheld PCs based on Windows CE. Gerald'ssecond role involved working with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) firmware for RFID/NFC Scanners, updating and extending LED control firmware for the RFID main unit. Currently, they are responsible for enhancing and maintaining RFID intermediators. Overall, Gerald Herbel has a strong background in software engineering with expertise in firmware development and integration.

Gerald Herbel pursued their education with dedication and achieved significant milestones. Gerald enrolled at Texas Tech University in 1961 and completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1966. After a brief break, they furthered their education at West Coast University from 1975 to 1977, where they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science.
