Nicholas Raymond

Nicholas Raymond has a diverse range of work experience. Nicholas currently works as a Mechanical Engineering Manager at Sofar Ocean, starting in October 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Production Engineer at Sofar Ocean Technologies from March 2019 to November 2021, and as a Production Engineer at Spoondrift from August 2018 to November 2021.

Nicholas also has experience as an Engineering Product Manager at Tenka Labs from November 2016 to June 2018. In this role, they generated new projects and designed and fabricated mechanical parts using various tools. Nicholas also worked on circuit board layout and bill of materials management.

Before that, Nicholas had an internship as a Tool Maker at KAL Tool Engineering Inc in October 2016, where they learned injection and blow mold design and assembly.

Nicholas also had an engineering internship at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) from June 2016 to August 2016, where they evaluated the feasibility of using an off-the-shelf MEMS inertial measurement unit (IMU).

Additionally, they worked as a Junior Specialist/Graduate Researcher at the Advanced Research for Manufacturing Systems Laboratory from September 2013 to June 2016. In this role, they performed primary research involving programming and operation of milling machines and conducted various experiments.

Nicholas also worked as an Undergraduate Engineering Intern at IMS Mechatronics Laboratory from December 2011 to September 2013, where they operated milling machines and wire electro-discharge machines and programmed with ESPRIT CAM.

In 2013, they led the CITRIS Wave Energy Converter project as the Project Lead, managing a team of engineering students to design and test a full-scale prototype.

Lastly, Nicholas served as the Engineering Intern Coordinator at Make Magazine from September 2010 to September 2012.

Overall, Nicholas Raymond has gained extensive experience in mechanical engineering, including project management, production engineering, and research and development.

Nicholas Raymond has a strong educational background in mechanical engineering. Nicholas first attended Santa Rosa Junior College from 2006 to 2011, where they obtained an AS degree in engineering. Subsequently, they pursued further education at the University of California, Davis, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in mechanical engineering from 2011 to 2013. Following this, Nicholas Raymond completed a Master's degree in mechanical engineering at the same university from 2013 to 2016. In addition to their degrees, they also obtained a certification in FE Mechanical from NCEES in October 2013.
