Chao Li, PhD, PE, is a Lead Engineer in New Technology Development at Sofec, with over twenty years of comprehensive experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Chao has been a lead engineer on more than ten complex EPCI offshore projects and serves as a subject matter expert in mooring systems and turret mechanical systems. Previously, Chao held significant roles at Worley and SBM Offshore, where they specialized in floating system design and mechanical systems. Chao also earned a BE in Engineering Mechanics, an MS in Solid Mechanics from Northwestern Polytechnical University, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. In addition to their engineering accomplishments, Chao is a marathon runner, having qualified for world majors including New York and Boston.
