Derek Beard

Derek Beard is a skilled software engineer with extensive experience in mobile application development and engineering design. Currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at SoFi since December 2022, Derek focuses on enhancing the core user experience of the SoFi mobile app using Flutter and migrating backend services to Kotlin. Previously, at Betterment, Derek held the role of Lead Mobile Engineer, specializing in Flutter and Android development. With earlier experience at Capital One as an Android Developer and a strong engineering foundation from Advanced Cooling Technologies, where innovative heat transfer solutions were developed, Derek's expertise also includes roles at Harley-Davidson as a Manufacturing Engineer and various engineering internships at Volvo Powertrain. Derek earned a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a Mechanical Concentration from Messiah College.
