Roman K. has a long history of work experience in the IT field. Roman began their career in 1999 as the President and CTO of SoftFinity Corp, where they focused on scientific and technical issues within the company, handling technical details of IT products and developing a technology vision for the business. In 2005, they joined Sircon as a Senior Java Architect, where they enhanced a proprietary Java based framework with a superior rules engine and integrated databases with external insurance systems. From 2006 to 2008, they worked at Ally Financial Inc. and Ford Corporation as an Enterprise Java Architect and Senior Java Architect respectively, where they directed Enterprise Architects and Domain Architects, created and enforced strategies for upgrading taxonomies, and produced comprehensive suites of reports. In 2012, they joined JSTOR as a Senior Java Developer, where they created a highly-available, mission-critical reporting solution. From 2014 to 2018, they worked at LG Electronics, WalmartLabs and Kroger Technology as a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Enterprise Search Developer and Senior Java/Scala/Kotlin Developer respectively, where they created cloud based software solutions, wrote highly scalable Scala software solutions, developed ETL jobs, created recommendations for upgrading OpsCenter, and wrote Kafka producers.

Roman K. received their Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan-Dearborn between 1996 and 1998. Prior to that, they obtained an M.Sc. in Computer Design and Engineering from New York University - Polytechnic School of Engineering between 1986 and 1991. In addition, they have obtained two certifications from OpenSource Connections: Hello Learning-To-Rank Training in November 2020 and Think Like A Relevance Engineer - Solr in October 2020.
