Rasmus Petersen has a diverse work experience across various companies and roles. In 2012-2013, they worked as a Consultant at Cambridge Intelligence, where they utilized visualization software to help organizations understand network data. From 2013-2016, they were self-employed as a Structure and Process Expert, specializing in aggregating data sources and developing analytical measures for entity-based planning and process software tools. In 2014-2016, Rasmus founded NOBLACKBOX Cambridge Ltd, focusing on software development. In 2015-2016, they co-founded Rygmarv IVS, a Danish company focused on helping individuals recover from debilitating physical injuries. Rasmus then went on to Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark, where they completed their degree in "Cand. Polyt." in Software Systems Engineering from 2001 to 2008. Rasmus continued their education at the same university and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Software Systems Engineering from 2009 to 2012.

In 2018, they earned certifications such as SIG Security Practioner (obtained in August), Influencer Training from VitalSmarts (obtained in July), Quality Software Developer Foundation Certificate in Maintainability (Java) from PeopleCert (obtained in June), SIG Security Foundation from Software Improvement Group (SIG) (obtained in February), and Crucial Conversations Training from VitalSmarts (obtained in January).
