Michael Chertoff

Michael Chertoff served as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, where he developed and implemented border security and immigration policy, promulgated homeland security regulations, and spearheaded a national cybersecurity strategy. Currently, he is the founder and Chairman of the Chertoff Group, a security and risk management firm, where he provides high-level strategic counsel to corporate and government leaders on security issues ranging from risk identification and prevention to preparedness, response, and recovery. He is also a senior of counsel at the Washington, D.C. law firm Covington & Burling, where he concentrates in the areas of white collar defense and investigations. In 2012, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of BAE Systems, Inc.

Chertoff has also served on the National Security Council, the Homeland Security Council, and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. He was a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and as a federal prosecutor in New Jersey and New York. Chertoff has a B.A. and J.D. from Harvard.
