Nick Schmidt

Nick Schmidt has extensive experience in the finance and AI industries. Nick has been the Chief Executive Officer of SolasAI since 2021, a company that uses cutting-edge AI to reduce bias in algorithmic models. Nick was previously the Director and A.I. Practice Leader of BLDS, LLC from 2019 to 2021 and Board Member of The Foundation for Best Practices in Machine Learning since 2021. Nick was also the Director of BLDS LLC from 2014 to 2019. Prior to that, they were the Principal and Director, Director, and Associate Director of Navigant Economics from 2008 to 2014. From 2001 to 2004, they were the Director, Associate, and Research Analyst of Chicago Partners. In 2004, they were the Senior Quantitative Analyst and Member of Chicago Alternative Investment Partners, LLC, where they designed a non-linear optimization algorithm for asset allocation. Nick also acted as an independent consultant to a carbon sequestration project development company from 2004 to 2008.

Nick Schmidt has an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where they studied Finance, Econometrics, and Economics. Prior to that, they obtained a B.S. in Economics from George Mason University. Nick also attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where they studied Business and Economics. Additionally, Schmidt has obtained two certifications from Coursera, one in Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization in September 2018, and one in Neural Networks and Deep Learning in August 2018.
