Nakia Matthews

Nakia Matthews has a wide range of work experience, beginning in 2003 at the University of Maryland - University Health Center as a Webmaster/Marketing Assistant. In 2004, they were an Intern at the National Center for Transgender Equality. From 2005 to 2007, they worked at the National Disability Institute as a Technology & Media Manager, Media Production & Technology Coordinator, and Program Administrator. In 2007, they were a Program Administrator at the Burton Blatt Institute, Syracuse University. From 2017 to 2018, they were a Security Engineer at Liquidity Services. Finally, from 2018 to 2021, they were a Senior Security Engineer and Manager, Global Security Operations at Cyxtera Technologies, and is currently the Director, Global Security Operations at SolCyber.

Nakia Matthews obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Hearing and Speech Sciences, with a minor in LGBT Studies, from the University of Maryland in 2005. In 2017, they obtained a Splunk Certified User certification from Splunk. In 2019, they obtained a GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender (GCED) certification from GIAC Certifications. In 2021, they obtained a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)². Additionally, they obtained a Systems Thinking Certificate from Cornell University in 2020. Nakia also holds a CompTIA Security+ certification.
