Laurie Wright

Director Of Centre For Marine Sustainability at Solent University

Laurie Wright is an accomplished academic and leader in marine sustainability, currently serving as the Director of the Centre for Marine Sustainability at Solent University since January 2014. As the founding director, Laurie leads a multidisciplinary team focused on critical issues such as maritime decarbonisation, marine pollution, and crew wellbeing. Additionally, Laurie holds positions as an Associate Professor and has extensive experience as a thought leader in maritime sustainability, contributing numerous articles and reports to the field. Prior academic roles include Senior Lecturer and Teaching Fellow at the University of Southampton, where Laurie managed environmental management programs and engaged with industry stakeholders. Laurie’s educational background includes a PhD in Environmental Sciences and an MSc in Environmental Monitoring & Assessment from the University of Southampton, complemented by a B.Sc. in Environmental Science. Previously, Laurie worked as an Environmental Data Analyst at Viridor Waste Management.
