Stephen Howell

Student Software Engineer

Stephen Howell has diverse work experience spanning various industries. Stephen currently works as a Student Software Engineer at freeCodeCamp and Sololearn, where they are gaining hands-on experience in software development. Previously, Stephen attended the California Technical Academy as an Information Technology student from October 2019 to February 2020. Prior to that, they trained at the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) from July 2018 to March 2019, developing exercise routines and receiving guidance from experienced instructors. Stephen also served as an Instructor at the National Communications Training Centers from October 2017 to May 2018, teaching students essential skills in copper cabling and low voltage technician work. Stephen worked as an Estimator and Technician at InfiniteTechnologies.Net in February and March 2018, ensuring the timely submission of bids and maintaining the quality of service. In 2017, Stephen was a Low Voltage Technician at Ground Service Technology, Inc., where they installed low voltage cable and fiber optics. Stephen started their career as a Field Technician at Mobile Technologies Inc. (MTI) in August 2016, installing and maintaining security systems for cellular devices and merchandising products for various companies. Lastly, from August 2012 to August 2016, Stephen served in the Marine Corps Recruiting as a Telecommunications Technician, responsible for installing and maintaining wired and wireless communication systems.

Stephen Howell has a diverse education history. Stephen began their higher education journey in 2007, graduating from Shelby Valley High School with a Diploma in General Studies. After high school, Stephen attended Millard Advanced Technical College from 2008 to 2010, where they obtained a Certificate in Industrial Electronics Technology/Technician.

In 2010, Stephen pursued their passion for theology and ministerial studies at Southland Bible Institute, where they studied for two years. However, they did not obtain a degree from this institution.

Stephen's educational pursuits shifted to the field of computer and information sciences and support services in 2016 when they enrolled at the California Institute of Arts & Technology. Stephen dedicated two years to completing an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in this field.

Continuing with their interest in technology, Stephen attended the National Communications Training Centers in 2016 where they earned a certification as a Certified Fiber Optic and Low Voltage Technician, specializing in low voltage cabling and fiber optics.

In 2018, they decided to explore the physical fitness industry and attended the National Personal Training Institute for a year, obtaining a NASM Certification as a Physical Fitness Technician.

Stephen's educational journey is ongoing, as in 2022, they plan to pursue certifications in Computer Software Engineering through freeCodeCamp.

Additionally, Stephen has obtained several additional certifications throughout their education. These include the certifications of Certified Fiber Optics Instructor from The Fiber Optic Association, Inc. (FOA) in November 2017, and two Certified Fiber Optic Technician certifications; one from Draka in August 2016, and another from The Fiber Optic Association, Inc. (FOA) in August 2017.
