Franck B.

Franck B. has a diverse work experience spanning over 27 years. Franck is currently working at Solvay since November 2018 as the Head of ESG reporting - Finance. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Finance - Materials GBU / Growth Platforms & Innovation at Solvay from March 2022 to December 2023. From November 2018 to April 2022, Franck served as the Deputy Treasurer - Head of Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and Risk Management at Solvay, where they played a key role in defining the financing strategy, managing external funding, and advising the strategic transformation taskforce.

Before joining Solvay, Franck worked at Rio Tinto from September 2016 to September 2018 as the Global Head of Structured and Project Finance. Franck also held various roles at Rio Tinto, including Head of Capital Planning, Financial Risk Management & Treasury Control from August 2013 to September 2016, Director of Risk Management and Structured Financing from August 2011 to July 2013, and Head of Corporate Finance from May 2008 to July 2011.

Prior to their tenure at Rio Tinto, Franck worked at Alcan as the Senior Manager of Risk Measurement & Management from July 2007 to April 2008. Franck was responsible for supervising the quantitative risk analysis middle office team and promoting the development of dynamic pricing models and advanced valuation techniques.

Franck also worked at Arkema as a Senior Business Manager from May 2003 to June 2007. During their time there, they formulated and implemented the marketing strategy for high performance plastics in the automotive industry and established technical partnerships with tier-one suppliers and Japanese OEMs.

Before their roles at Alcan and Arkema, Franck worked at Total as a Business Development Engineer from April 2000 to April 2003 and at Elf Atochem as a Research and Development Engineer from September 1998 to March 2000. At Elf Atochem, they played a crucial role in developing materials for flexible lithium-ion batteries and mediating between French and Japanese teams.

Franck's early work experience includes working as a PHD Researcher at CNRS from September 1995 to September 1998 and as an intern at BASF in July-August 1994.

Franck B. has a strong educational background with a focus on finance, strategy, accounting, chemistry, and materials science. Franck completed an MBA from The Wharton School in 2007, specializing in finance, strategy, and accounting. Prior to that, Franck earned a PhD in Chemistry and Materials Science from the University of Lille 1 Sciences and Technology in 1998. Franck also holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie de Lille, which they obtained in 1995.
